AN ADVICE FROM A FELLOW GENZ ON NATIONAL YOUTH DAY!

I find occasionally the occasional activities very redundant. We have occasions like these which feels like they are the definition of hypocrisy.

First of all, Which youth? What is your definition of youth? I recall an incident from Ghaalib's life when he was a child.

He was scolded for not saying Aadab to his elder Neighbour. The Neighbour said, "Buzurgon ko Aadab Karne ki Tehzeeb Nahi Hai tum main?" or don't you have manners how to greet elders?

To which Ghaalib quoted a Persian poet Sheikh Saadi at the age of 12.

Buzurgi ba aql, na ba saal. Or Wisdom, or the wise nature, comes from knowledge not years.

Gaalib was young in my opinion. The elder was a juvenile idiot.

Everywhere I see, I find immature idiots who do not know courage, who do not know cowardice, who do not know behavior, who do not know laugh, smile, smirks. Nothing. I find their juvenile fantasies irksome.

The Youth, as a definition, is one who has the best of both worlds. Courage of the childhood unawareness and maturity of the elderly experiences. I find none of these features in any youth I know.

Their childlike features are childish. Their elderly features are annoying. Like the elder complain all the time, the youth of this century complain like anything. "Tera baap itna complain karta na, toh roti bhi nhi aata tere ghar pe aaj! oo muh nhi fulaya, oo gaand pasaar ke nahi baitha, utha aur kaam pe gaya! tab roti aaya tere ghar pe"

Their childishness has no bounds. They quote people to justify their idiocy. They can go to any extent to protect their egos. This is peak childishness. Aur inko bol do, toh inki maa chud jaati hai. Aise hi ek chutiye ko Juvenile fantasies word accha nahi laga tha, Mirchi lag gayi thi. Lagi thi toh lagti rahe. Jo hai, wahi kaha gaya hai, kuch galat nahi bola gaya. Juvenile hai toh Juvenile hai.

Ok, coming to more cheerful aspect, I am quite impressed with the Gen Zs in general. They are quite better than their previous generations. I am a Genz myself. Only thing I dislike about my own generation that this might be the most coward generation in centuries. Who will say that the elders of this generation ripped each other just a century ago in a world war. If only, they stop complaining so much, ok we get it, you are depressed, you are a depressed generation, Kya karein, Bheekh de dein? lega 5 rupiya, Muh kholo dete hain.

Rest, this is a more sensible generation for sure. Warna, apne paagal elders ko jhelna mazaak nhi hai. Unko bhi jhel lete hain, apne values ko khud decide bhi karte hain, so far so good GenZs. Good for you.

Now, what else, Let me give you one advice that I would like to give myself also. Be patient and read the whole thing.

Why do you think a meaning, however shallow, is important in life?

Why a mala chanter, a Dhyani, or just even a devotee, looks much calmer and more peaceful than you?

It is because he has a meaning. However fabricated, however shallow, but he does have. It is better to create a fiction in this world. And believe me, if you do not have meaning and you pretend being cool by nihilism and stuff, "AAP APNA HI CHUTIYA KAAT RAHE HO"

Because, you have a meaning, you have convinced yourself that other people who live by constructing fiction are stupid people and you are the smartest because you need no fiction to survive.  Your smartness is your fiction. You will end up being more depressed than ever because all you are doing is inflating your egos by constantly reminding that you are better than others just because you live in "Reality" and so on. Nobody lives in reality. We all live in fictions, some secular fictions, some religious fictions.

So, what I am saying is that meaning in life is necessary because it keeps you focused on one thing. You have one thing to worry about. In the age of distractions, where everything is trying to distract you. Your attention is their currency. Your attention becomes more important to you. If you can focus on one thing for a long time, you have no idea how strong you are mentally and in a generation whose life span is 50 years and whose attention span is 50 seconds.

So, when you bathe, bathe like your life depends on it. When you read, read like you will die if you do not focus. When you walk, walk like you are a serial walker (like a serial killer). Do one thing with so much honesty that you stop listening, you stop speaking, everything stops for you.

When you do this, Life does not seem much of a burden to you. Carpe diem is an old proverb. Now we need new ones. Say, "One second at a time". That should be the mantra.

And when you focus like this, you lose ego. Who has time to think about oneself when there is so much work to do? Every moment is a task that you have to ace focusing. Even if you have to sleep. Sleep like you are dying. Mar jaao. Itna accha so jaao, ki neend mein bhi dhhyan bana rahe, ki so rahe hain.

Sambhav hai, vishwaas karo.

Har pal mein jeena, Har pal mein ahamkaar ka mar jaana hota hai.

This is my message to myself and whosoever is reading this. Value your focus, my son. The world is hungry for your attention, do not sell it for free. And you will realize that the world will run for your attention. So, valuable are you for them. People give attention to those who give attention to themselves.

Best regards,

Your Fellow GenZ
